Blooming Church 2027: ‘Flowers of the field’
Botanical Art Group
Blooming Art
The St David’s Botanical Art Group aims to foster the enjoyment and practice of botanical art using graphite and watercolour, while providing opportunities to develop new skills and enjoy the company of like-minded artists.
The group originated from a beginners’ botanical art workshop that was introduced in 2018 to add another dimension to the Cathedral’s annual floral festival, Blooming Church. Following the success of the workshop and a shared desire to continue learning, many participants from the inaugural and subsequent workshops now meet on the first Saturday of each month (March to December) in the Bishop Hay Centre, 121 Macquarie Street, Hobart. A small fee applies to the monthly meetings and artists with basic drawing or watercolour skills are welcome to join the group at any time.
A two-day beginners workshop is held annually for those wishing to learn the fundamentals of botanical art.
Members of the St David’s Botanical Art group are invited to exhibit their work annually at Blooming Church.
