Preached by Rev. Jacob Crane on Sunday, June 30th, 2019
A part of the Prayer (Teach Us To Pray) series.
Many of us find prayer a little difficult.
And there are many reasons why this may be so.
After teaching His disciples to pray the Lord’s prayer, He shares with them a parable on prayer.
It begins by teaching that how we see God, effects the way we pray. If we see God as some begrudgingly obliging neighbour, our prayers will be stifled, only coming to God on occasions of desperation.
But. Should we see God as He is, as Jesus teaches us, we can go to Him with shameless boldness, and trust in the goodness of our heavenly Father.
Jesus teaches, that the gift our Father is most eager to give, is the gift of the Holy Spirit. And by His Spirit, He will make known to us, He will guide, not only our prayers, but the whole of our lives.
