The Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) has designated Sunday 19th September as International Chorister Day in celebration of choirs and singers in churches, chapels and cathedrals around the world.
We’d like to invite you to come along to St David’s Cathedral to “be a chorister for the day” as we rehearse and then sing a service of Choral Evensong. The rehearsal begins at 3pm as we practice the music for Evensong with support in each voice part from our regular Cathedral choristers and all under the direction of our conductor Thomas Rimes. We will be accompanied on the organ by Peter Warren. Evensong will be held at 5:30pm. Everyone is welcome, please indicate your voice type (soprano, alto, tenor, bass) when you sign up. Music can be collected in advance for those who wish to do some private practice before the day. Children and adults are invited to take part, parental consent is required for those under 18 years of age.
Our service of Choral Evensong begins at 5:30pm. Everyone is welcome to attend and there is no need to book for the service.
If you would like to practice the music at home before the day, please refer to the following helpful resources from YouTube.
