Concert: The Idea of North Dec 12 7pm

Thursday, December 12th, 2019 from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm

The Idea of North is and will be. Present.

That time of year is upon us once again, that so easily becomes all about how much you can do, make, buy, and wrap. But what if we were all just…present?

This year, as our gift to you, we are presenting you with a very special guest artist at each and every show around Australia. In Hobart, we will be joined by the effervescent vocal stylings of the Southern Gospel Choir. They will fill you with the irrepressible, uncontainable joy that is gospel music, and who knows – we just may be able to convince them to sing with us, too.

Service: Can you believe it? Christmas 2019

From Tuesday, December 24th, 2019 until Wednesday, December 25th, 2019

Can you believe it? Who would have believed that Kanye West would be on a Cathedral poster? Who would have believed that a self centred rapper would have released the album “Jesus is King? Who would have believed that a persecutor of followers of Jesus would become St Paul? Who would have believed there was more to Jesus’ story after his death on the Cross? Who would have believed that a Galilean carpenter was God’s King for all the world? Who would have believed that in the birth of a child in a stable we now had Immanuel God with us?
Just because something seems unlikely doesn’t make it untrue.
The story of God’s salvation in the Bible and peoples lives is full of twists and turns. Can you believe it? Advent and Christmas brings this question to us along with the deeper questions of do you? Do we believe in Jesus’ kingdom, do we believe in changed lives, do we believe in God’s love for us?
Belief often gets a bad rap but we have good grounds for our faith that in the coming of Jesus we now have “God downloaded” available to everyone, and love now streaming to all then we will want to sing with Kanye, The Hallelujah Chorus, Mary and the Angels “Glory to God in the highest heaven for Jesus the King is born.”
