Commonly referred to as his ‘Vespers’, Rachmaninoff’s music for the All-Night Vigil service of the Russian Orthodox Church was written in 1910. The All-Night Vigil Service comprises the Orthodox office of ‘Vespers’ followed by that of ‘Matins’ and ‘The First Hour’ and is celebrated on the eve of the great feasts.

In modern practice, the service does not generally last all night but rather three hours, of which only 1 hour is music. Please join us for this one-hour musical performance.

Service: Evening Prayer rather than Evensong in July

Sunday, July 23rd, 2017 from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm

Come as we gather around God’s word in prayer.

No Evensong as our choir is having a well deserved break in July.

Evensong will return as part of our 175th Celebrations on Sunday August 27 and we hope that our organ will have returned from its leave in Syndey.
