The Bishop’s Nomination Committee is seeking information from members of the Anglican Church in Tasmania  on the challenges, opportunities and expectations facing a new Bishop.

On Thursday Aug 6 there will be 2 sessions at St Thomas’ Howrah (Lorne Cres) 1–4 pm and 7-9.30pm. We encourage all to attend and do some thinking before hand. Read  Preparing to Engage to do some thinking and praying before hand.

There are also consultation in the North West and North full details below.

Concert: Sing Australia “SONGS OF INSPIRATION”

Sing Australia ConcertA one-hour Cathedral fundraiser concert of inspirational songs, from 2.00 – 3.00 pm. It will feature songs such as Amazing Grace, Never let go of your dream, Fields of gold, Hallelujah (L.Cohen), Panis Angelicus, The Olive Tree, Why we sing, How great thou art and many more. Entry $10.00. All proceeds to the Cathedral. No bookings necessary. Everyone welcome.

Concert: Xyris Saxophone Quartet

Xyris Saxophone Quartet‘technically secure and rhythmically resilient, spectacularly so…’ – Peter Donnelly.

The Xyris Saxophone Quartet welcome you to a thrilling recital of music; old and new, with a programme showcasing the incredible warmth, sonority and beauty of sound too rarely attributed to the saxophone. Highlights of the programme include masterwork ‘Music for Saxophones’ by the great Dutch composer Tristan Keuris, J.S. Bach’s delightful motet ‘Sing to the Lord a New Song’, and the captivating ‘Crucifixus’ by Enjott Schneider, which will see Xyris joined by Hobart’s incredible organist Andrew Bainbridge.

Please join us to present this programme in the stunning acoustic of St. David’s Cathedral.
This is Xyris’ first performance since soprano saxophonist Benjamin’s recent study trip to Germany to study with Carina Rascher.

Prices are $20 and $10 concession, at the door.

St David's Choir BucklandThe Cathedral Choir with the All Saints Choir will be singing Evensong at St. John the Baptist, Buckland this Sunday with a wonderful afternoon tea to follow.  Make a day trip of it, and have lunch on the way “didn’t we have a luverly time the day we went to Buckland.”
