Andrew Wilkie is a retired army lieutenant colonel. He came to prominence as a whistleblower over the Iraq War in 2003 while working as an intelligence analyst. Andrew was elected to Federal Parliament as an independent in 2010 and is one of the four crossbenchers holding the balance of power. He will be discussing the nature of the gambling problem in Australia and the poker machine reforms agreed to by the Government.
John Harrower is the eleventh bishop of the Anglican Diocese of Tasmania. He has a strong commitment to social justice as emphasised in his work in Argentina and in Melbourne. Bishop John will be introducing Mr. Wilkie and speaking briefly on how Christian passion and thought interacts with the prevalence of problem gambling in our community.
